Welcome to the new old fashioned adventures of Mandalyn May.  A lifelong songwriter and tunesmith, she’s packed up her belongings and jumped feet first into the road-less-traveled lifestyle of the modern day hobo and troubadour.  Now on the road in California (with occasional forays to Idaho, New York, and the UK), she is making music and new friends wherever she goes.

While 2010 has been all about learning how to play out in front of groups large and small, 2011 is shaping up to be the year of learning how to play well with others.  Having discovered the joys of jamming, sing-alongs, and hula hoop dance-alongs in the campgrounds of  Strawberry, High Sierra, Mystic Garden Party, and other festivals this summer, Mandalyn is considering running off to join the circus... or better yet, start a circus-like gypsy band of her (and your?) own.

Thank you for being here!

The following links will work in about two years, as the pieces of this musical life puzzle come together.  I have put them here ‘early’ to remind me what I am working towards!

In the meantime, she is releasing three volumes of the Demo Listen Derby - a collection of up to 40 songs that she hopes to whittle down - with your input and participation - into one truly fantastic full band CD by summer 2011.   She is also keeping an eye out for partnership opportunities with nonprofits and folks who are working towards sustainability in Agriculture, Architecture, and the Arts.  To find out more, visit her label-in-progress, Sustainable Sound Recordings.   The company plans to donate 50-80% of publishing royalties and up to 10% of net profits to sustainable community ventures.

If you came to this page looking for a great promotional line or two, here it is!  Mandalyn May is at the forefront of the new indie folk and acoustic roots-inspired music that is sweeping across the western world.  Her whimsical stage presence, rhythmic ukulele love songs and soulful guitar ballads have delighted audiences on both coasts of the United States and across the pond.  Her ethereal yet earthy voice is not to be missed!”
